Kelsie Salmen, Psy.D. is a licensed clinical psychologist who grew up in Cleveland, Ohio. She received a bachelor's degree in Psychology from Miami University, a masters degree in Clinical Psychology from Loyola University Maryland, and a doctorate in Clinical Psychology, with a focus on child and adolescent therapy and assessment, from George Washington University. Dr. Salmen completed her pre- and post-doctoral internships at therapeutic day schools in Chicago, IL. Dr. Salmen has a breadth of experience working with children, adolescents, young adults, parents, and families in a variety of settings, including schools, community mental health, and private practice. Dr. Salmen is an active member of the American Psychological Association.

Dr. Salmen's approach to therapy is one that places great value on the therapeutic relationship. When a strong and trusting working relationship is built, clients are able to feel safe to express themselves, share their fears, celebrate their successes, and set important and attainable goals. Dr. Salmen's therapeutic style is a blend of techniques, which can be tailored to fit each client's unique needs. These techniques include psychodynamic psychotherapy, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and interpersonal and relational approaches.  

Dr. Salmen currently provides psychotherapy for children (ages 5-12), adolescents (ages 13-18), adults, and families.  She has special expertise in depression, anxiety, child and adolescent issues, the LGBTQ+ community, adoption and foster care, and behavior management or other parenting concerns.  Dr. Salmen has experience working with clients who have suicidal thoughts and/or a history of self-harm. She will work to help her clients develop effective coping skills, improve their ability to communicate feelings and needs, enhance their relationships, increase insight into their behavior, and strengthen their self-love. 

Additionally, Dr. Salmen provides psychological evaluations for children and adolescents ages 6-17 years old. The assessment battery and process is individualized depending on the referral question and parent concerns.
